Acid reflux and stress


Acid reflux or GERD is a problem of digestive system that might stop functioning properly. It may occur because of several reasons, but stress is one of the main reasons behind it. Stress can cause all kind of diseases.  It increases the blood circulation to the heart and the most of body's energy is supplied to other parts of the body. Drinking of  alcohol and smoking  together with stress will increase the symptoms of acid reflux.
 
 The main symptom is a sensation of heartburn. That main sympton is given by excesive stress, smoke and beverages that cause relaxing of the Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES).  Physical reason for the acid reflux is the relaxing of the LES. When these muscles are relaxed, the fluids that contain the stomach acids will migrate from stomach to the esophagus. The result is a painful sensation of heartburn. Half of the patients of heartburn are suffering from stress. There are some tips for helping people to reduce stress in their lifes so that a reason of acid reflux attack to be removed.

   First, the unhappy situations in the office and home must be solved. By solving the conflicts in family and with friends, the stress level can be reduced.
Next,try not to do additional works. That is going to increase your stress especially when is done under pressure. So plan to do things in order, one job at time. This situation can reduce stress in our lives too.
In another train of thoughts, try not to concentrate your mind only on yourself. The level of stress will be reduced if you concentrate your mind on something less demanding, some techniques of concentration as yoga, tai chi,meditation, chi gong and self-hypnotism will help you to do this.
Physical exercises have their role too. They improve the endorphins produced in the brain making a good feeling, which can reduce your stress at once. Even if you are only jogging with your dog or you are playing ball with your mates, try to have fun everytime you make physical exercises.
The attitude to the situation is also important. We need to find some good things even in a bad situation. Keep in mind only the good thing in any situation. Have a positive attitude in any situation instead of a negative one. For the future, think about the good things in it.

Laughing is a real help in reducing stress. When you feel stressed, try to see a good comedy movie or keep contact with persons who can make you laugh. Laughing and keeping a good sense of humor will help to improve your attitude in life and to become more positive.
If you like pets, try to have one. Cats, dogs, no matter what, this will help you very much. If you are not ready to take responsibility of a pet for lifetime then try to have one temporary.The pets have a magical power to reduce the stress. They also can be good friends that never leave you.

If you have trusted friends or relatives, you will be able to share your problems with them. It will give you a lot of relief from stress.
   Their good advices might be for a real help and could create a calming effect. You must not carrying your problems alone.
Finally, a massage or acupuncture will help to eliminate stress. It will also relax your mind. Even only a long hot bath, whirlpool or a steam shower might have the same results.
These are some tips that could help remove the stress and relief your body from the pain. Keep in mind that stress is the source of many diseases. So, try to stay relaxed in any situation!
